Now once again i know this palette has been out in the beauty world for quite some time now, but i finally decided to pick it up from Debenhams. I expressed on my previous 'Too faced Chocolate Bar Review' blogpost read here that i hadn't been drawn to a lot of Too Faced Products mainly because i feel they are aimed at more younger women, but their eyeshadows are by far some of my favourite on the market today. I fell in love with the original Chocolate Bar palette so was so excited to get this, let me introduce you to the 'Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette' -a slightly deeper, more warmer version of the original coveted palette.
Once again its features 16 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused shadows in matte and shimmer shades, all with adorable names and of course infused with the signature scent of sweet chocolate. I expressed before that i couldn't handle the smell of the original palette when i first got it as the strong aroma was just overwhelming and it is the exact same story again.....

Nausea aside, i didn't purchase this palette for the Sweet Cocoa Aroma ( as i think we have established i don't particularly love chocolate ) I purchased this palette for the quality eyeshadows that Too Faced produce and as a follow on from the Original Too Faced Chocolate Bar. This palette contains 7 matte and 9 shimmer eyeshadow formulations. The Matte shadows are soft and easy to blend with them having such a smooth velvety texture there is a little bit of fall-out but that is to be expected with most matte shadows unless they are Tom Ford or Kevyn Aucoin. I do feel the matte shadows are not as creamy as the original palette. The eyeshadows that contain fine micro-glitters have zero fall-out and the shimmer shades glide smoothly like silk, with an almost metallic finish.
Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette
The packaging is more slimline that my Original palette which i like as its easier to store in my muji drawers. The overall design of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette is cute, girly and whimsical in the shape of an actual chocolate bar, with the palettes description engraved onto the front of the casing in gold and baby pink Italic font. Too Faced products always have such beautiful packaging, with their creative know how they sure know how to steal a girls heart. The smaller eyeshadows are 0.03 oz. each, while the two larger ones are 0.10 oz. each. The palette itself is made from sturdy metal ( which i favour over plastic) and has a magnetic enclosure and a mirror insert, making this palette ideal for travel. Also included in the packaging is a few step by step pamphlets to create several eye looks using the eyeshadows in this palette ( which is ideal if you are unsure of which shades mix well with one-another and where to apply ).
The Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette consists of warm bronzes, caramels, deep mocha's and a couple of pops of colour, with a baby pink and a blueberry blue thrown in. I would say this palette is definitely one for the girls who love warmer eye makeup looks. The pop of blue i must admit looks more out of place in this palette than the plums and pink did in the original, especially when it is disappointing and the pigmentation is a let down. I was excited expecting a vibrant duo chrome blue but i ended up with a sheer blue cast that takes lots of fix plus and layering to achieve a desired effect, personally i feel that is too much work. I prefer to wear a bold blue on my lower lash-line but this is no where near pigmented enough to create such a look, an it's too colourful to apply in the tear duct... FLOP! The Blueberry Swirl is the 'Strawberry Bon Bon' of this palette, the one that just didn't quite make the cut, though i am pretty sure i prefer Strawberry Bon Bon now lol. Most would argue that the shade 'Pink Sugar' is the let down in the palette as it is different to what Too Faced usually offer, being gritty glitter with almost no pigmentation. Instead of Pink sugar having intense pigmentation it offers a sheer iridescent wash of shimmery glitter which is perfect as a eyeshadow topper in the center of the lid to help bring the eyes out. I feel that it has more of a function than the Blueberry Swirl and i like a sheer wash of shimmer over a bold eyeshadow.

Overall i like the palette but i don't love it as much as the Original palette. I feel like this situation is like the Urban Decay Naked Palettes.... where the Naked 1 was amazing but the Naked 2 just couldn't quite lie up to it....I'm praying they come out with a 3rd Chocolate Bar palette that will be perfection, like the Naked 3!!! A white Chocolate bar perhaps? Which would be a bit shocking as i can stomach dark chocolate at times but i cannot stand white chocolate lol. I feel the quality of some of the shadows in this palette are not as good as the quality in the Original, the colours and don't appear to be as thought out either; It is literally like someone went "well we are known for pink, we will shove a pink in there" and lord knows who thought of the blue, it is the first ever To Faced Shimmer eyeshadow i have swatched that has not been super pigmented. However despite the shadow i clearly dislike with a passion now most of the shadows once layered and blended out look very pretty on the lids. None of the eyeshadows crease (and i have fine lines) and all are long-wearing with the exception of Pink Sugar and the one we shall not mention again lol.
Swatches
L-R: Liqorice, Coconut Creme, Nougat, Truffled & Hot Fudge
L-R: Cocoa Chili, Pink Sugar, Puddin, Blueberry Swirl, Peanut Butter & Frosting
L-R: Rum Raisin, Mousse, Caramel, Bon Bon & Butter Pecan
If you have the original palette you will notice some similarities in shades, i wouldn't say to own the Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette is a must if you own the Original but then if you are like a me and are completely make up obsessed it is a nice treat to add to your collection. I would reach for this palette more throughout the Spring and summer months and hopefully the chocolate smell has calmed down by then...
I feel this palette is a perfect gift for any girl of any age whether she is a teen or some-what more mature.... because in reality what girl does not like chocolate or neutral eyeshadows? The sixteen shades included in the Chocolate Bar palette are named after delicious sweet treats, my personal favourite's from the palette are: Cocoa Chili ( this is my favourite out of the whole palette ), Truffled and the whole bottom row Rum Raisin, Mousse, Caramel, Bon Bon & Butter Pecan.
The Two Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette retails for £39 in the UK and is available to purchase thorough Debenhams.
It retails for $49 in the USA and is available through Too Faced, Sephora & Ulta.
Do you any any of the Too Faced Palettes?
Which one is your Favourite, The Original or the Semi Sweet?
Thanks for Reading Lovelies
