Tom Ford Skin Moodlight Illuminating Powder Duo Review & Swatches

*Purchased

I have to admit as beautiful as the Tom Ford Fall 2015 collection is it is the Skin Illuminating Powder Duo in 'Moodlight' that is the showstopper of the whole entire collection!! I knew straight away before it even released that i wanted it, it just HAD to be mine! Tom Ford always has an item in every Limited Edition Collection line that sells out almost instantly, and i can guarantee it is the Skin Illuminating Powder Duo in the Fall 2015 collection....

When it comes to Tom Ford Cosmetics his products are some of the ultra luxurious, top-quality cosmetics on the market today. The price really reflects what you get, therefor Tom Ford makeup products are luxury items, at least to me they are; I personally do not have the budget to splurge on Tom Ford products every payday. I cringed as i spent £62 on the Harrods website to have this beauty in my possession the next day.

The Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo in Moodlight consists of two long-wearing beautiful pans of glowing highlight that dispenses an ethereal lit-from-within glow onto the skin. You can lightly sweep your brush to achieve an almost natural radiance or go in with a denser brush to get a more obvious highlight. It is not as pigmented as say the BECCA shimmering skin pressed perfectors but it has enough pigmentation to be a noticeable highlight if desired.

If you are familiar with Tom Ford cosmetics, the packaging of the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo it looks almost the same as the Shade & Illuminate Kits ( which i also own ) but in powder form, it is the same size compact as the eye colour quads and the highlighters sizes are the same size as the individual blushes. The blushes retail for £42 each so to get 2 highlighters totaling 12g of product for £52 i feel is a bargain, or at least a Tom Ford Bargain. As with all the Tom Ford Products the highlighters sit in the magnificent stately, weighted chocolate-brown packaging with golden accents and it's generous sized interior mirror. All Tom Ford Powdered products come in their protective brown sleeve too, to prevent it getting scratched.

The Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo contains two pans of highlighter powders, the idea is that one powder mimics the effect of daylight, while the other offers the soft glow of candlelight. The top powder in the pan appears an almost stark white but translates onto the skin as a soft pearl, on my skin-tone i can see slight gold and pink undertones-tones to it. It is not as gold as the Nars Albatross ( which i found to be far too yellow and gold ) and its not as peachy as the Kevyn Aucoin Cestial powder in Starlight, though it applies to the cheekbones almost identical. This particular highlighter alone i feel will be stunning on fair to medium skin-tones and is very flattering for cool skin-tones.

The bottom shade in the compact is a beautiful warm peach with a bronze undertone, it reminds me of a mix between Becca's Champagne Pop ( only CP reflects more yellow gold ) and Mac Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish ( which isn't as bronze and the TF Is way more pigmented ) the peachy bronze undertone makes this shade perfect for medium-darker skin-tones ( this is the exact sort of shade i gravitate towards ) so i can see me using this shade a lot.

You can either use the shades separately or you can mix the two together for a beautiful more multidimensional glow, which i enjoy doing.

Think of the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating powders as being the baby of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and the BECCA Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfectors; They are best described as soft focus, almost slightly metallic-transfer highlighters that are creamy, blendable and chunk-free. Both highlighters melt into the skin beautifully as one, without settling into any large pores or fine lines. The highlighters give a beautiful and luminous healthy sheen to the skin without a single trace of glitter or sparkle. As for the consistency of the powders the texture nestles somewhere in between a powder and a creamy gel formula, very much like the Laura Geller Powder Gelee's and the Colourpop Blushes, they are soft to the touch and almost have a cooling texture without having any fall-out/powder kick up at all, i personally like to apply with my finger ( like the gorgeous Desi Perkins ). This is one of those products where it’s almost near impossible to apply too much ( unless you go in heavy handed all over the face, no one wants to look like a disco ball ).

I like to think of the Tom Ford powders as soft-lit luminizing highlighters that add a fresh healthy glow to the skin without drawing attention to imperfections, this is one of those highlighters that is perfect for every age group, yes even people with more mature skin. The good news is that the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo is well worth the money but the bad news is that it is Limited Edition ( Why must they do this with all their best products? ) The last i saw the Tom Ford Skin Skin Illuminating Powder Duo had already sold out online through Selfridges however i have seen that Harrods still have it available online. Moodlight is available to purchase in store at Tom Ford Counters, Selfridges ( one of my favourite stores ), Harrods and selected House of Fraser stores.

Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo - Moodlight retails for £56 and is available to purchase online through Harrods for a total of £62 including fast postage.
Alternatively you can order directly via the Tom Ford website for $80, but as i stated in my previous Tom Ford Nude Dip blog post you will be taking a gamble with their Customer Service.

This is a Purchase i would highly recommend to everyone and i promise you that it is a purchase you will NOT regret, it will probably be a purchase you will want to buy a back up of and i apologize in advance to your poor Bank account, now i just have to purchase the new Powder foundation they just released...

Will you be buying anything from the Tom Ford Fall 2015 collection?

Thanks for Reading Lovelies
