I was doing a post on what makeup i will be wearing for Christmas this year and i decided that i wanted to do this blogpost to show the red lip products i am loving for this festive season, and would highly recommend to anyone who is wanting to wear a red lip during the holidays. In the winter i love simple natural healthy looking skin with a lit-from-within glow, super black lashes, a thin band of black liquid-liner and a red lip.
I guess you could say that the lip does all the talking, and even though i can feel insecure at times wearing a red lip outside of my house, as i feel it draws a lot of attention and i am more of a 'blend in' rather than 'stand out' kind of woman. However i feel the most confident wearing a red lip during the winter holidays as i feel red symbolises Christmas and it is beautifully festive.

My personal favourite. A glossy shiny red lip is not as long-wearing as a matte but i feel its the most flattering on my naturally full lips. I also love that if i feel a little uncomfortable wearing it then i can easily wipe off, or i can achieve a thinner layer so my lip doesn't look as bold. Glossy lips make the lips appear more plump, healthy and youthful and they also don't enhance dry patches, which is great for me as my lips can get super dry. A lot of glossy formula's can also be hydrating on the lips which is perfect for the cold weather seasons and for more mature women, as well as women with extremely thin lips to help add fullness and dimension.

Retro Matte Lip
Nowadays it is all the rave to wear a matte lip, but a matte lip is not necessarily flattering on everyone of every age group. Matte lips are not as flattering on more mature women and can look bad on people with extremely thin lips and people with dry lips who do not exfoliate. Matte lips don't add dimension or fullness to the lips so they tend to look the most nicest on people who already have full lips. Matte formula's can be drying, therefor require more maintenance and preparation before applying. Exfoliation and a lip balm are a must before wearing a matte lip as matte formula's cling to dry patches and enhance them. They are long-wearing and some are even transfer proof lasting up to 10 hours. Some are so strong in pigment they can leave a stain on the lips which is perfect for swiping some gloss over the top to create a natural red lip.
Matte Lip Lineup
Mac Cherry Lipliner- £12.50 | Bright Blue Based Red
LA Colors Forever Red - £1 | Pink based Red
Lipliners: I feel that you don't need a great deal of red lipliners, just three shades, one being a deep burgundy almost brown shade, a blue based red and a pink based red.
Nars Cruella Velvet Matte Lip Pencil - £19 | A Deep Merlot Red ( the creamiest matte formula )
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream Monte Carlo - £5.50 | Pink Based Cherry Red
Makeup Academy Reckless Velvet Lip Lacquer - £3 | Deep Merlot Red
Mac Russian Red - £15.50 | True Scarlet Red
Mac Ruby Woo - £15.50 | Retro Matte Deep Ruby Blue-Based Red
Labelle Matte Lip Vintage - £9.99 | True Pin Up Red
So those are my Favourite Red Lip Products, of course i own plenty of other red lip products but these are my go to products that i highly recommend. Keep your eyes peeled for my Christmas day makeup look and products blog post...
