I am all about that glowing, healthy complexion that makes me look youthful and radiant. I'm often asked how i get my skin looking so glowy and full of life, especially being a single mom. I often joke around and tell them it's just concealer and highlight, but truth is, it's about much more than concealer and a highlight; Great skin comes from a great skincare routine! Having the right skincare products and a good routine really does help tremendously in helping to achieve that natural lit-from-within glow. So i thought i would share some of the skincare products that i use to help achieve luminous, radiant-looking skin....
My Morning Routine
Waking up to the sound of my alarm at 7am ( after hitting the snooze button 4 times ) knowing i have the task of getting 4 children ready for the day, can make me want to hide under my blanket and never get up. I have to start my day gradually and embrace a positive mindset, after all a positive mother in the morning equals positive and happy children. With so many children a consistent routine is a necessity, especially when i feel like a zombie from lack of sleep. They always say lots of water is good for younger looking skin but good sleep is just as important. So, when uninterrupted nights of sleep are a regular thing i look to my diet and skincare products to help. It can be hard to keep clear, healthy-looking skin when you aren't getting much sleep or you don't drink enough water, therefore a good skincare routine concentrating on products that repair, protect and hydrate is important. You can always tell if someone gets enough sleep or not, as it shows on their face - dark or sunken under eye circles are the most obvious piece of evidence. So after i get up i make sure to drink a full glass of cold water to help kick start my immune system, then i brush my teeth and splash a little bit of cool water on my face. I find this helps the blood circulation and also helps to wake me up fully. I make a cup of green tea and take it with me to my vanity to sip on whilst i get ready. There is just something so soothing about taking 10 minutes out of my hectic morning to enjoy pampering my face a little while sipping on tea. My skincare routine has come on leaps and bounds, and my current routine has helped me feel much more confident when i leave the house, even if i have no makeup on. As i am short of 'me time' in the mornings, i like my morning routine to be quick and simple, so i tend to just stick to the same products that i know work.
My Nighttime Routine
My nighttime routine is where i experiment a bit more with new products, and incorporate new ones. I find that i have more time in the evenings to really pamper my skin after i have put my children to bed. Again i wouldn't have that much needed me time in the evenings without a good consistent bedtime routine for my children. Anyway, i always double cleanse in the evenings to remove the days dirt, along with makeup and sunscreen. I use a standard oil to remove all traces of makeup and follow up with a richer treatment cleanser like a gel-to-oil or a balm to really nourish my skin whilst cleansing. After dinner i find myself feeling really sluggish after a long day, so i really have to make myself remove my makeup. If i can i will try to remove the days face before we sit down for dinner otherwise, i might get lazy and not remove it at all. Night time i tend to do more skin treatments and face masks, i also like to give my face a good massage. Most of the 'glowy products' i use are used at night time, so i wake up with glowing skin in the morning.

I use a mix of cleansers, in the morning i like either a gel or gel-to-oil, fuss-free cleanser and in the evenings i like a rich balm or an oil i can really massage into my skin to soak up all the nutrients. I don't like to over cleanse my face, especially in the mornings. So, i either just splash a little cold water on my face or opt for my Perricone Md Blue Plasma Cleanser. I like this because it's gentle and removes any sweat or dead skin cells from the night, without irritating my skin or making me break out ( which micellar water can do if i use too much ); plus it's great for if you are short of time. Occasionally when i have done an acid treatment over night i like to use a gel-to-oil cleanser like the Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Gel Oil ( the lovely Arjan is also a fan ) or the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel to cleanse the skin, but also nourish and hydrate at the same time. I find that both of these leave my skin looking radiant and feeling balanced - it's literally like giving yourself a quick facial. I love them both in the morning and at night as my 2nd cleanse. I have become a huge fan of oil cleansers that you remove with a damp wash cloth, the Antonia Burrell Natural Glow Cleansing Oil is a firm favourite. It is a 100% natural pure plant oil with ingredients like bitter orange, cypress, tea tree, lemon and lavender that help to give you the ultimate aromatherapy experience. The result is an uplifted, refreshed and calmer skin that is glowing from within. Another oil i thoroughly enjoy to give my face a good pampering is the MV Organics Skincare 9 Cleansing Oil Tonic. This little beauty is pricey but a little really goes a long way. The smell is intoxicating and my skin is always left looking radiant, but feeling more balanced with no residue left behind. I remove oil cleansers with my Sarah Chapman Cleansing Mitts. I discovered these through watching JessBeautician. I find the mitt aspect super convenient and they are great quality. When my skin is feeling more congested and i feel like it needs a deeper cleanse, i reach for my Sarah Chapman Skinesis Rapid Radiance Cleanse. This clay cleanser detoxifies the skin and leaves it looking bright and feeling clean and soft without stripping or drying out the skin, like a lot of clay cleansers can do. I simply apply it all over my face and leave on for 2 minutes ( like a flash mask ), before rinsing. I have combination-oily skin and i find that if i over cleanse my face then not only does my face get more oily, but i also get breakouts. I'm starting to realise my skin is quite sensitive.

Toners and Essences can be a great way to introduce 'skin glowing' products into your routine. Especially an acid toner with ingredients to make your skin glow like the highly raved about Pixi Glow Tonic or the Bravura London Revitalising Ginseng Toner. Both help to exfoliate the skin, revealing new glowing skin and are gentle enough to use everyday. After a good chemical peel/acid treatment our skin needs moisture put back into it. The Su-Man Rehydrating Toning Essence is amazing at helping to hydrate and brighten the complexion at the same time. This watery liquid really is a drink for your face, it absorbs quickly and has a nice cooling effect on the skin. Every time i use this my skin is kept hydrated and looking plump all day, it really is my holy grail essence. Another essence i highly recommend for that healthy glow is the Farmacy Skin Dew, though i personally prefer to use this as more of a setting spray after my skincare routine or makeup, for a beautiful fresh and dewy look. I also use it to mist throughout the day.
Now onto the ultimate magic of skincare.... the serums. Serums are by far my biggest obsession in skincare, i often use 2 serums in my routine especially in the mornings. I always use a Vitamin C product ( as used in conjunction with an SPF the partnership can have amazing anti-ageing benefits for your skin ) and right now the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum is the one i am using. This vitamin C antioxidant-rich powerhouse helps to even out my skin tone, fight UV damage, stimulate collagen production and protect my skin. The unique 'hyaluronate crosspolymers' help the serum to penetrate the skin more easily and add intense hydration - which actually sets this apart from many other Vitamin C serums on the market. I always follow with a target serum afterwards and i always gravitate towards serums that claim to be 'brightening' or rich in antioxidants. The two serums i am going to talk about will come as no surprise seeing as both of them have already graced my blog ( the Kypris Antioxidant Dew and the Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum ) - which you can read the full reviews here to find out why i love these powerhouse serums so much. Another serum i highly recommend for radiant and youthful looking skin is the Cult favourite Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Serum. This bad boy has been in my skincare arsenal for years and will always remain a firm favourite. I have added another couple of brightening serums to my skincare stash that i am testing out and they are the Oskia Renaissance Brightlight Serum and the You Clarifying Glow Serum, which is a serum created by my beautiful Instagram friend Amy of PamperYourself Green.
Now when it comes to moisturisers it can be a difficult task to find a moisturiser that is 'brightening' without making you greasy. Personally all brightening moisturisers have done this on me, yes even the infamous Sunday Riley Tidal ( which you can read about here ) so i prefer my moisturiser to hydrate and my serums to add that glow factor. It is important to moisturise your skin, even if you have oily skin, as a damaged surface layer really can play havoc with your skin's ability to retain moisture and of course, moisture equals plumper glowier skin! Moisturisers really can be our anti-ageing best friend, but they are more about locking moisture in and protecting our skin, so the wrong moisturiser can actually damage the skin rather than help it. I find that a lot of moisturisers make my skin congested and break me out, but i have managed to find two lightweight and hydrating moisturisers that my sensitive skin likes - both of which are actually Korean and both i discovered through my go-to skincare guru and friend Renee ( known as Gothamista ). The Blithe Crystal Iceplant Pressed Serum, is a serum and moisturiser in one! It is incredibly hydrating, cooling and lightweight. Just like the Su-Man rehydrating toning essence this is like a drink of water for your skin. Packed full of hyaluronic acid ( which holds onto 1000 x times molecular weight in water ), 63% iceplant extract ( which is hailed as a moisture magnet because of its ability to survive the Saharan climate ), Eucalyptus and numerous fermented ingredients - which are super rich and potent, your skin will remain incredibly hydrated all day. Blithe is one of those small 'innovative' brands that every product they create actually works - i have honestly yet to try a product by them that hasn't wowed me! Another lightweight moisturiser but slightly creamier is the *Aromatica Sea Daffodil Aqua Gel Cream. I was very kindly sent this by Buttermilk Skincare, a UK based Korean skincare company that is quickly turning into a favourite store of mine. I will admit that it was love at first try with this moisturiser. However i wanted to test it out for a good month before talking about. I've really found that this helps to hydrate and balance my skin and i love that it has rosehip oil in it.
Now i want to talk about some of those magic products that help your skin to appear reborn again. Despite having oily-combination skin i am a huge lover of face oils, and recommend them to everyone with every skin type ( i will have a blogpost coming up soon on which face oil is best for which skin type ). When it comes to an oil i only wear it at night, otherwise i will look like a greaseball in the day. I like to apply a little at a time and build up if i need to so that my skin doesn't become too congested and it just sits on top of my skin without absorbing. My skin and hair really needs moisture but seems to struggle absorbing it, which is incredibly frustrating. However i have found some oils ad elixirs that work beautifully with my skin and of course give me that beautiful healthy glow. The first oil i fell in love with that has helped my skin dramatically was the Pai Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil. This fruit and seed oil blend delivers Trans-Retinoic Acid, which converts to Vitamin A to boost the skin's natural healing process. It helps to reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines and UV damage in all skin types. With daily use Rosehip oil conditions the skin, which improves the skins firmness, elasticity and suppleness creating youthful more radiant looking skin. After using this for a year i decided to up my game and introduced the Sunday Riley Artemis Oil. This has a lot of mixed reviews but i found applying a drop at a time and building up with this thick oil really helps to prevent congestion. Every night i apply this oil i wake up beaming, my skin looks incredibly bright and healthy - plus the smell of lemon myrtle really relaxes me. Lastly my most used overnight beauty oil is the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial. Oh my goodness this is perfect dewy skin whilst you sleep! This serum-in-oil or beauty elixir is a potent cocktail of peptides, vitamins, omegas oils and skin brighteners that leaves your skin refreshed and radiant. I guarantee people will ask you what your secret is when you use this, expect a full review shortly. I definitely want to dry the morning facial now come winter time.
Of course perfect clear skin wouldn't be possible without regular exfoliation, managing blemishes and reducing scars and pigmentation. For an overnight exfoliation treatment i love the Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Serum and the Sunday Riley Good Genes, I tend to rotate the two. Both are hydrating overnight chemical exfoliators that make my skin look renewed, i do have a review coming up shortly on both. In the mean time my lovely Instagram friend Stef Nicole has talked about them here on her channel. When it comes to a target treatment i love the Bravura London 2% Salicylic Acid Treatment. I discovered this through my dear friend Binita or HiddenHarmonyWorld and i soon fell in love. at the beginning of the year i developed adult acne, for the first time since my teens it seemed like i was breaking out. I was left feeling confused and was left with a lot of with a blemishes to treat and scars. The Bravura Salicylic Acid - aka every oily girls holy grail treatment changed my skin. It's a product i recommend to almost everyone, especially those with oily skin who suffer with breakouts, blackheads and ingrown hairs! I use this as a treatment all over my face once a fortnight to help with blackheads, and i also use it to spot conceal. Literally when a blemish starts to appear i put a drop of this on and the next morning the blemish is significantly reduced and less red. Frequent use reduces scar pigmentation also. Another extra product to give that glow is the Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster. This slowly builds up a natural tan or glow to the skin, i have tried a lot of face tanners and this is my favourite, especially if you have fair skin.
